Restaurant food waste and recycling collection
We collect food waste and recycling from restaurants and commercial kitchens on a schedule that fits around your service.
Our bins are strong, sealable and easy to clean, meaning fewer leaks and less odour for your team to deal with.
Food waste is heavy, so it’s best kept in smaller commercial bins your staff can move safely when full.
We’ll recommend the right bin sizes for your site when you get in touch.

What are the waste regulations for restaurants?
Under Simpler Recycling, businesses in England with 10 or more full-time-equivalent employees have had to separate food waste, dry recycling and general waste since 31 March 2025.
Businesses with fewer than 10 full-time-equivalent employees must do the same by 31 March 2027.
Your duty of care means storing waste securely, stopping it from escaping, and passing it only to an authorised waste carrier.
Every collection comes with a waste transfer note, giving you a clear record of where your waste went. You must keep these for at least two years. They’re also ready to show landlords, auditors and suppliers whenever they ask.
Did you know? According to some estimates, food waste costs the UK hospitality and food service sector £3.2 billion a year, an average of around £10,000 per outlet.

Restaurant waste disposal FAQs
How should restaurants dispose of food waste?
Restaurants should dispose of food waste by keeping it separate from recycling and general waste, storing it in sealed, lidded containers and having it collected by a registered waste carrier. Staff should keep packaging and cutlery out of food waste bins, as these contaminate the load. Used cooking oil and grease need a separate collection and must never go down drains.
What types of waste do restaurants produce?
Restaurants mainly produce food waste, glass, cardboard, paper, cans, plastic packaging and general waste. Glass bottles and cardboard packaging from deliveries often make up a large share of the volume. Refurbishments can create bulky waste such as old furniture and fittings, while used cooking oil, grease trap waste and some cleaning chemicals need specialist disposal routes.
How often should restaurant waste be collected?
Most restaurants need food waste and general waste collected at least weekly, and busy venues often need collections two to three times a week or daily to control smells, pests and hygiene risks. Glass, cardboard and other dry recycling can usually be collected less often, based on how quickly the bins fill and how much storage space the site has.
How much does restaurant waste disposal cost?
Restaurant waste disposal typically costs between £100 and £500 per month, depending on the waste types, bin sizes and collection frequency. A single lift of a 240-litre food waste bin usually costs around £8–£20, while larger 1,100-litre general waste bins cost more per collection. High-volume venues needing daily collections sit at the top of the range.
